Banned by Airbnb for Fraudulent Activity

I used Airbnb for about five to six months before getting banned for fraudulent activity linked to a reservation. Now because I have not done anything like that, Airbnb would not tell me specifically what activity they are referring to. I’m looking for some assistance on who I can talk because they said that I cannot appeal this matter and it was their final decision.

I have a significant amount of credits — roughly $800 — in my account that I can’t use from previous stays, refunds, and referral credit. For the reservation they said the fraudulent activity was linked to, the host was a very nice guy. I was his first guest and he seemed really excited and happy to have be there. He sent a lot of messages to my Airbnb account. It was mostly greetings like “What’s up?”

Here’s the last email Airbnb sent me in regards to my second attempt requesting for more information on the fraudulent activity they banned me for. They won’t give me anything but a copy and paste of this email which I have already received.

The decision to remove you from the Airbnb community was made after gathering and carefully reviewing all related documentation and communication from the parties involved. We won’t be able to assist you further with any account issues. We’ll contact you if anything changes in the future.

Banned for life

My boyfriend and I were both banned by Airbnb. I’ve been a traveler with them years and have many positive reviews. I tried listing my guest house and they asked me to scan my drivers license. They used a consumer reporting agency and found an arrest from 7 years ago when I was a teenager, it was not even a conviction. I was found not guilty and charges were dropped. But because of this they denied me from using their website anymore, and when my boyfriend (clean record) tried to list our space they deleted it and banned him and said they did not have to disclose why they banned him. We already had 3 paid reservations that they canceled days before the first guest was to arrive. They wouldn’t return our emails, and who ever answered the phone was just trying to get me off the phone “I don’t handle these issues, they’ll email you”. This whole experience was just ridiculous and embarrassing. I’ve never been treated so horribly by a company.

Ban without explanation, did nothing wrong

This I received during my stay at a host’s place. booking was cancelled during stay. Host received the same message … we have no slightest clue why …

We regret to inform you that, following a full review of your account, we have determined that we are unable to support your account on Airbnb. We have decided that it is in the best interests of Airbnb, and for the users on our site, to remove your profile from the Airbnb community.

Additionally, we hope you understand that this decision is exercised at our sole discretion and that we are not obligated to provide an explanation as to the action taken against your account. Furthermore, we kindly note that we are not liable to a user in any way with respect to deactivating or cancelling his or her account.

Additionally, please understand that this removal will also entail the immediate termination of your pending or accepted bookings and that, as part of this process, we will communicate to your host that the confirmed booking 9JMEKK has been cancelled and the credit card used in this transaction will be fully refunded.

As per our Terms of Service, Airbnb reserves the right to make the final determination with respect to such matters, and this decision will not be reversed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and must inform you that, moving forward, we will no longer be able to assist you further with your account issue.
