In grade 12, most people are 18 years old so you using the word ‘children’ to describe them is misleading. They are (young) adults.

It sounds like you/the graduands left it to the last minute when more-affordable (and legal) accommodation was already gone. That’s on you. You could also have chosen not to book it if the price wasn’t to your liking.

Why should there be soap? You should bring your own toiletries. AirBnB is NOT a hotel.

Genuine hotels and BnBs have to meet safety requirements. Depending on the local laws, short-term lets like through AirBnB may or may not have to match these guidelines too. All you can do is inform the council/local authorities of the fact this person is likely having an illegal hotel and that he disabled safety equipment. I don’t know what you were expecting though…

Simply put Airbnb is the Antichrist of the hospitality business and an enemy of housing markets worldwide. It had also turned the average travelers into sniveling self entitled monsters who expect luxury at a bargain basement price. I can honestly say that I have never set foot in a Wal-Mart because they have destroyed Main Street USA. Airbnb is like the Wal-Mart of the hospitality business. Countless small businesses are gone as a result of their greed including the bed and breakfast I owned and ran for 30 years. Absolutely hate Airbnb.

Who in their right mind would trust kids to stay in their property unsupervised? Good luck finding a hotel that would allow it.

I also find it amazing that “guests” think that Airbnb has protocols in place to inspect their 5 million listings. There is zero oversight in terms of safety, accuracy of listings and legality of listings. Zero. You take your chances cheapskates.
