I keep thinking that it is simply outrageous that Airbnb cannot be held liable for any occurrence during a stay if the host did not take proper insurance.
Thanks Tom for your very wise comment about the prospect of a class action taken one day against Airbnb. Here’s hoping this will come true very soon!

Since they collect and escrow money eventually the will be held liable for the actions, acts and negligence of their hosts

And yes Rachel, any thinking person would opt for a hotel or a licensed bed and breakfast, where guests have many more options for recourse against poor conditions

You should have enquired whether the host had proper insurance……. or stay in a hotel that has to abide by legal safety rules.
