this sounds EXACTLY like an experience of mine, only it was in NYC, and it was oddly with a HOST I'd used before. In NYC, people with multiple listings are illegal. But i rented a property on ABNB through this one host because I'd rented a fabulous one through him before. (Later learned he just used it to bait Realtors, he was a developer.) The property he rented me for Christmas in Brooklyn was filthy. I'd flown my daughter in from SO Cal and me from Seattle to spend holiday with my son in Brooklyn. VERY EXPENSIVE! He never even saw us! I'm still documenting the dirty sheets for my credit card company, and worse, I'm committed to a month long rental in San Diego prior to this nightmare. So while I'm fighting with AIRBNB on this Christmas nightmare, (It didn't even have an inside doorknob - FIRECODE!!!) I'm arriving a new property to escape the winter in Seattle But, my daughter did check this out and I did communicate with the host about my experience and he seems professional and honest. But AIRBNB, awful, leaving no alternative but to take them to my credit card company. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars with them between myself and my two grown children and been a perfect guest. Horrific.
