There are airport buses and trains that go into Paris and then most destinations are 10-30 minutes in a cab.

When the host said you could check in two hours earlier, you could just have said no.

Rather an over-reaction to check into a hotel.

You are right if you want a flexible check in go for a hotel or an airbnb that does self-check in.
