The locksmith would not open the door without verifying identity and we didn’t have our passports by then since they’re locked inside.

The Guest was a total noob. They caused the problem, not the landlord. They could have called a locksmith to have him/her open the door, but instead, the went to a restaurant 30 to 40 minutes away and ordered dinner. They got what they deserved.
