My favorite hotel in New York is the Algonquin. You can have a room there for $202 per night. Thanks to companies like Airbnb hotel prices are WAY cheaper than you might think. Nice hotels-hundreds of rooms under $200. Why choose Airbnb other than it is the latest fad in the travel biz bordering on a cult. You either love it or loathe it.

It is important to note that New Yorkers HATE Airbnb and have since the beginning. Most people there live in apartments and people on vacation behave in a completely different way when they travel. Besides the stupid 300 pound rolling suitcases banging around your building, tourists stay up late and might even "party" a bit. If you have to get up in the morning for work and there is a rager going on upstairs all night you would be upset too. Same goes for the residents or Paris, London and Barcelona. Contempt for Airbnb in those cities in palpable.

Next time just book a hotel. You will be happy you did. So much more predictable. Time off is precious. Why take a chance with Airbnb?
