So basically they sent you an email days in advance advising alternate check in times (you, of course, don’t provide all the details). You ignore ot or your mistake to miss email and now you are trying to blame the host. Seems to me like you share some or most of the blame.

Working in hospitality means you have to be flexible, eg, why not ask that nice restaurant two blocks away to hand over the keys? Guests can also run late or get confused in a foreign country and the host should smile and accept this.

Hosts like this should not host. It is ‘hospitality and tourism’ and as such you need to welcome guests (at an appropriate time) or if you cant, make arrangements for someone else to do it. Sorry for your hassle but this host doesn’t represent most hosts
