I'm a little late, but I also wholeheartedly agree that complaining via Twitter is the best way to get them to listen to you. According to some people on the Airbnb subreddit, their social media team has more power to throw money at problems than the average person on the phone does. I also went through a month-long battle over just $100. I wish you luck.

We have recently been through a month-long battle to get Airbnb to listen and I did think of putting the story on this site but it has been resolved to some extent, if not to our complete satisfaction.

I agree wholeheartedly about the difficulty of getting Airbnb to listen. The thing that we found worked best was to tweet. They really do respond to tweets and we found that being relentless with the tweeting worked best. They will jump as they are all about protecting brand risk and at the moment they are fighting various battles with various cities (eg NYC).

I assume you have been able to leave a review on the host? If you stick to Airbnb guidelines this should be possible. It's not a great thing to have to do but it's one of the only things you can do - people need to be warned about bad hosts - we used Airbnb's own language on them and said that if we couldn't leave an honest review, it was very disappointing from a trust and community point of view.

Those are the two practical things you can do and I do hope you get a result somehow.
