people travel with babies all the time, it doesn’t make them bad parents. Airbnb advertises itself as a great, safe alternative. I didn’t know about all the horror stories until I stumbled upon this site tonight, after considering booking an Airbnb for the first time. While I do not have children, I clearly remember a vacation my entire family took when I was 12, my brother was 11 months old. We went on an Alaskan cruise with an 11 month old baby and it was great. Taking a baby on an airplane and cruise ship like my parents did, didn’t make them bad parents, it was an incredible experience for all of us. And going on vacation like the original poster did, with a ten month old baby, doesn’t make them irresponsible parents. Babies are perfectly capable of going on trips with their parents. Personally, if I had a child, I would rather bring him or her along then leave them back home with a sitter.

While I agree, this is a bit of rant, Airbnb actually markets itself as being a “family/kid friendly” alternative to hotels because of the amenities it provides such as a kitchen and spare rooms for a nap etc. They even have a filter in their search results for “family/kid friendly”. They also put out a glossy image of “trust and safety”.
