There is no shortage of scammy, scummy hosts on airbnb. Which is why I no longer use them.
I have friends who still call me and complain about some of the horrible conditions of properties and crazy host experiences. I tell them the same thing I am telling you “Stop using Airbnb”. Both your wallet and your mental health will improve. You are better off staying at a hotel. Its cheaper and they have an incentive to keep guests happy because they want you to come back..Once the host has your money they have no incentive to do anything for you.

There is no shortage of scammy, scummy hosts on airbnb which is why I am so glad I stopped using it. I get calls from friends and associates who are still using airbnb complaining about the condition of the properties and you would be shocked at what they tell me. I tell them the same thing I am telling you and also what Paul said above “Stop using airbnb”. You will avoid a ton of headaches and save some money too. If you must travel you are better off at a hotel. Your mental health and wallet will thank you.

Basically, it’s buyer beware; and dince there is no real independent verification, it’s just not worth the risk of going with them. Btw, what you wrote re bias towards hosts is not true. Read this site for more info. Avoid airbnb in the future.
