I dunno, those pictures don't look too bad. Where's the terrible part of the shower you were so disgusted by? That just looks like an old shower head and a clever way to let people know things about the apartment. Chalkboard/whiteboard paint in kitchens is pretty common so he probably thought it would be a good idea instead of having using paper and printing stuff out. You said there were no welcome packs or leaflets and he was away doing something else when you checked in and therefore being a good host is not important to him. It sounds like you want him at your beck and call or this might be something that wouldn't bother you at all if nothing else did. You are whipping yourself up into a frenzy over every little thing. You want to be mad about a refund thing? Sure. You want to be mad that you were "slighted" by Airbnb? Sure. But com'on! The "sarcastic language" he used sounds like someone being really polite to a very unreasonable person.

You might have wanted different music but it he seemed to make it pretty clear that it was a loud area and some of what you're referring to as dirty is just wear and tear, like the stove. He could probably take care of it a weekend of heavy degreasing and scraping but it's not really a health or safety issue. I'll bet you lots of money that your parents' cottage from 1850 has had more aesthetic and cosmetic updates than you realize since you seem to have trouble recognizing what it looks like when things are well-worn.
