You did leave an honest review, right? Any host is only as good (or bad) as their conscience and space they are renting. If either gives a bad experience, you should write an honest review without any emotion. If AirBnB censors or removes your review, then post publicly about the incident and clearly identify the host so others can be warned about the person. There are no absolute guarantees with AirBnB; however, the worst people will eventually be weeded out.

Personally, I think I would have recorded what the host was doing, and tell AirBnB you locked yourself in the room due to fear and safety, and maybe even called the police. If he wasn’t licensed to be on AirBnB, maybe he would get a fine from the local authorities. Be aware that AirBnB does not check licenses; honestly, I don’t think they care one hoot. As long as they can get money, I think they are perfectly fine to roll the dice and hope nothing too bad happens.
