Airbnb is a listing service. They take very little responsibility for guest verification. VRBO, Booking.com, & Homeway don’t do much either. I had my listing with a property management company before going Airbnb & basically once they had the credit card, they didn’t verify anything either. Also there was no such thing as a guest review by a host.

Remotes are cheap but inconvenient to replace. Try not to sweat the small stuff.

Stained linens are going to happen. Plan for replacement. Occasionally you may get Airbnb to reimburse you but probably not.

Guests urinating in the bed are an expensive event. Please consider covering your beds with protective mattress covers.

Long term hosts are pretty universal about not counting on Airbnb for reimbursements. It is nice when you can get them. You may wish to investigate buying personal short term rental insurance.
