I don’t know why but I have the strange feeling that given the wealth of small details and long chain of complaints, that this testimonial has been paid for by the hotel industry to demonize AirBnB. I do not believe one drop of it.

Sorry, hun, you were made to stay in hotels where they cater to you more. 74 is high and expensive. I would never set my own thermostat to that, let alone the thermostat in someone else’s home. And daily towel changes? What in the world are you doing to those towels that you need a daily change? I have never heard of anyone who does daily towel changes at home. Your water bill must be insane to accommodate that many loads of laundry.
I wouldn’t be surprised to read about your host complaining about you on this site.

You really should stay at hotels. Using a different towel daily and having an 80 degree thermostat is unreasonable for airbnb. And the host mentioning the electric bill is completely reasonable with your questions. I’ve never had my thermostat above 74 and I live in DC. That’s insane! Make your reservations at the 4 Seasons for your next adventure honey.

I doubt the landlord was listening in. Self-evidently the reason for controlling the thermostat is to keep fuel bills down I don’t think any landlord would need to listen in to your friend to develop that line or argument. As for hetting fresh towels on a daily basis, that just isn’t a feature of self-catering accommodation or many holiday lets. Unless the description of the let includes that you should not expect it – these aren’t hotels!!

In reply to Nellie. There’s a difference between an “endless rant” and a detailed explanation of my experience. You certainly did not have to read this post, if it was too long for you. OBVIOUSLY I’m aware that booking with Airbnb means I’m staying in someone’s home. What is not obvious is that there should be no expectation of privacy?? It’s one thing to have visual surveillance for security reasons, but why should someone ever need to eavesdrop on someone that’s renting their home?
