AIRBNB DELETES NEGATIVE REVIEWS

If you’re wondering if negative reviews get deleted by Airbnb, it is absolutely true. All the host has to do is telephone a representative they communicate with and explain why the negative criticism they received is nothing more than made up gibberish. During a recent stay at a Airbnb, the host showed me how easy it is to request a rating/review to be removed. The host complained about every previous guest. It makes you wonder what the host has in order for you after your departure. I encourage you to read the many reviews on the Airbnb website and you’ll find it quite hard to find a negative review based on bad experiences. 99% of the guests cannot have a “wonderful” experience, not even at a five star hotel. In addition, if you’re looking for privacy, as you would in a hotel, Airbnb is not for you. There are hosts that have locations that are completely host-free. It’s best to contact the host and ask how private your stay will be, while hoping the host doesn’t consider your question as offensive. In addition, remember that many hosts open their rooms because they’re either quite poor and want to execute Martial Law to their guests. I am in no way suggesting that guests should be wasteful, but keep in mind that you are paying for the room, paying for cleaning fee, requested to make a donation if you launder clothes, etc. Give it a try and experience what the pros and cons are. Unless you’re on a strict budget, you may find it much better to stay at a reputable hotel.

  1. I had left a negative review and shared my personal experience to which the host responded with a defensive and slanderous response. I flagged this to Airbnb because the host had lied about multiple things in the response and guess what, 5 days later I get a message saying that my review had been removed coz the host had said it violated policy. When I asked Airbnb what policy my review violated, they said it’s because I shared my personal experience and that was considered irrelevant. Huh?! What?! It’s irrelevant to share that the host didn’t disclose the lack of a living room leading to a rough time for us with little kids? I naively thought Airbnb would take down the slanderous response from the host which was filled with personal attacks but instead they walked out of the situation rewarded with the removal of a negative review. Smh.

  2. Just had my negative review removed from Airbnb because they say it didn’t contain info for any renters! That’s all it contained. What a ripoff! The place was a dump with only 5 star reviews. Really? Once they take it off there is no way to respond. Won’t be using again!

  3. I have used AirBnb for 5 years, and I am done. Nearly every time, there is a “surprise”. I guess that is what I deserve for trusting amateurs for my accommodation needs. This last time, the host asked me to remove my honest and accurate review because it contained something negative (the property was strewn with building supplies and toys)

I normally choose hotels (with decent ratings) and I rarely have “surprises.” The kicker is that AirBnb is no longer a bargain compared to hotels.

  4. Airbnb: Shit Shack Chateau

    As One Should Not Expect:
Listing photo`s of pre dilapidated, mold infected, termite infested, damaged Cabin
Beautiful views of heavy equipment going up and down mountain traveling to and fro; As owner is reconstructing hillside for more revenue; furthermore requiring patrons to leave their vehicle (4wheel drive) at bottom of hill “1,500 feet down hill “
So you can experience the joy of lugging your paraphernalia up hill 1,500 feet to this “Shit Chateau”. Where you will be able to share all you’re personal hygiene experience’s with all as the construction workers; as the commode is situated out side centrally & conveniently located across from the 150 gallon Cold water outdoor shower. “Where peepshows are encouraged as they are obviously free.”
Our trip here is prodigiously unusual as the owner has been unforthcoming and other guests or day~travelers rude and obnoxious (although understandable if their accommodations are anything like ours). It appears these hosts opened their “Shit Chateau”. As their either looking for income for hillside reconstruction or want to execute Martial Law to their guests. Why anyone would stay here other than a quick stop on the S&M highway is beyond us
This whole experience left us wondering; if negative reviews get deleted by Airbnb, well it is absolutely true. All the host has to do is telephone a representative they communicate with and explain why the negative criticism they received is nothing more than made up gibberish. 5. Has anyone had difficulties requesting a refund? My husband and I cancelled our photography shoot in Maui and was told by photographer to contact Airbnb for refund due to them holding the fee. Well I have sent multiple messages and get the same response stating it’s being looked into and I will be noticed with an update. I know it’s only been 1 1/2 weeks but an update would most be appreciated.

  6. Omg the most horrible stay ever. Airbnb for Orlando they put us in a beautiful looking home but the ac didn’t work. We slept in a hot house called them several times no call back and they couldn’t get a hold on our host the entire stay. We asked for the Wifi code we got a message back soon as we told them the house was hot the Ac not working we never heard from anyone again, they only refunded for 1 night after they lied stating that I called the night before but I had messages from the very 1st day. Then spoke to a rep that said they would refund me for the entire stay and that became a lie now I’m about to contact every legal team to shut them down with all my proof. They are scams. Do not use Airbnb. There was no host and I have messages to prove it. They kept saying they will call me back and never did. This has been since June 10th

  7. I had a booking into a location and then found the hosts were making pornography and monetizing sex in the location. When I complained to Airbnb about the situation, the representative told me they have hosts that use sex to market their location. As long as the sexual activity is not displayed on the Airbnb platform, they don’t care what goes on at the property. When it was all said and done, I still lost a good portion of my prepaid monies because of the time lines. I have since met with the police in the location and made them aware of the couple, their activities, shared pictures, and showed them where they could be viewed. Let the customer be aware.

  8. We booked a house on Airbnb for 6 weeks. From day one we noticed ants and roaches in the house, and wasps building multiple nests at the entrance to the house. The hostess called a handyman twice for a spraying and an exterminator twice for spot spraying. However, the pest problem persisted. We asked for a comprehensive treatment, to which the hostess agreed. Then, at night, informed us that if we leave the house immediately and do not leave feedback, she would not collect the second payment. Airbnb neither helped us find another house, nor demanded remedy from the hostess.

  9. Interesting comnents. I am a host in UK and just gone through hell with account locked, deleted from platform and no means to communicate with guests. Guest staying when website hacked also had her account locked. We each gave trip/host reviews mentioning ‘issues and no Airbnb communication’ but neither reviews have been published.

  10. They issue refunds without permission. I’m a new host on airbnb and have sought to keep 5 star rating. However, one of the pricing features guest can choose is the “non-refundable” price. This significant savings, just like big chains, is appealing to travelers. The consumer called AirBNB complaining that I only gave them a partial refund, and AirBNB gave them the whole $444 back WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

What AirBNB didn’t take the time to know is that the guest had ordered catering services, which cost a deposit, which I paid. And, the holiday date was booked for 2 months and would have been booked by someone else at a higher rate had it not been on hold for this guest who then cancelled AND got their money back and by the way, the emergency they cited? The couple got into a fight so they didn’t want to travel anymore. Are you kidding me?

  11. Remember in the good old days when we trusted faceboo?. Gone. Same with airbnb. Just out to gain money and overtake the market. Total bullshit company.

  12. Would never use airbnb again. Paid almost $300 a night and place was not at all as described. Since then I have realized they only post positive reviews. My review of course was never posted. Next time a hotel.

  13. Yes but…sometimes a negative review is left at a property that really should be there. Ex: I hosted two young ladies who raided our bar, smoked (even though it was a non-smoking listing) multiple times, walked around in high heels at 2am, waking both me and my husband up AND pulled a taser on my husband when we worked with airbnb to have them removed from our house. Now my overall rating suffers because of these two individuals. That’s not fair either.

  14. They posted my good review parts but eliminated that the host said it was quiet when I was on a flight path and I could hear loud jet blast and see the wheels of planes as I laid in bed. I was awake all night long but they removed that from my post. Really!!!!!!!
